The snake

Subject matter: The snake by Sharon

Purpose/message: I think the poet is trying to get across that a snake is a dangerous animal that should not be toyed with. e.g. "Its sinuous movements like hungry eels". The purpose was achieved by Sharon using strong language.

Emotion/mood: The poet has made the poem give the reader a awareness for snakes. e.g. "Its beady eyes are never shut" This is achieved by Sharon using strong techniques such as metaphors.

Techniques: Sharon has used good techniques that are of ten found in lots of poems such as:

• Metaphors e.g. "Its tongue sticking out like an arrow ready to strike"
• Personification e.g. "Just staring like a new born sheep"
• Non rhyming

Summary: This poem scared me a bit as I imagined myself near a snake. The poet has achieved her purpose and The impact the poem had on me was that I was scared and I was Cautious.

Twilight

The book I am currently reading is twilight by Stephenie Meyer. The book is about a girl who moves to the small town Forks to live with her dad. When she walks into the biology lab at her school, there is a boy who will not stop staring at her. She finds out that he is a vampire but she does not care and they fall desperately in love. However this is the trick to the story, because he is a vampire he can't touch her as he wants to drink her blood. This book uses great language as I am constantly asking my mum what words mean. My favourite character in the book is probably Edward Cullen. Edward Cullen is the vampire in the story and he is described as being beautiful. This interests me as In previous books I have read all the men have being described as handsome not beautiful. This book is part of a series of books the second book in the series is new moon then Eclipse then Breaking dawn.

My sister is like a mailbox every thing is kept bottled up inside and sometimes it overflows

My sister is like a mailbox she has to have every thing hand delivered to her she never has to move a muscle

My sister is like a mailbox when it rains she can get a bit rusty

The dark hills divide reflection

The Dark Hills Divide by Patrick Carman is a good book. It is about a 12 year old girl who is trapped inside a wall that surrounds her city, but when Warvold (the man who built the walls) dies her inspiration and curiosity get the best of her as she searches for a way out side the wall. There are many characters in the book, but the most interesting is Sebastian. Sebastian is a undercover convict planing to take over Alexa's (the main character) town, but you don't actually find out his true identity until the last few chapters of the book. What I like about the book is that the author(Patrick Carman) writes about a scene of the story witch intrigues the reader to want to find out how this happened. Then She goes on to tell how that scene came to be. I also like how The author chooses her words as it brings the book to life and intrigues you to want to read more. However I don't like how the author reveals Sebastian's identity so quickly. I think she should have said a bit more instead of getting to the point so quickly. Overall The dark hills divide is a good book and I encourage anyone who reads this blog to read it.
