Subject matter: The snake by Sharon
Purpose/message: I think the poet is trying to get across that a snake is a dangerous animal that should not be toyed with. e.g. "Its sinuous movements like hungry eels". The purpose was achieved by Sharon using strong language.
Emotion/mood: The poet has made the poem give the reader a awareness for snakes. e.g. "Its beady eyes are never shut" This is achieved by Sharon using strong techniques such as metaphors.
Techniques: Sharon has used good techniques that are of ten found in lots of poems such as:
- Metaphors e.g. "Its tongue sticking out like an arrow ready to strike"
- Personification e.g. "Just staring like a new born sheep"
- Non rhyming
Summary: This poem scared me a bit as I imagined myself near a snake. The poet has achieved her purpose and The impact the poem had on me was that I was scared and I was Cautious.
